As a regional hub leader for Long Island COVID-19 vaccine distribution, Northwell Health established a Health Equity Taskforce (HET) to ensure the safe, effective and equitable distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine to those hardest-hit, vulnerable communities on Long Island. As a part of the HET, a broad swath of Long Island officials from those in government to community leaders to faith-leaders — are developing strategies to ensure that the COVID-19 vaccine gets to minority communities hard hit by the virus as equitably as in other areas.
Chaired by Dr. Debbie Salas-Lopez, Senior Vice President for Community and Population Health, the HET is comprised of over 100 community and faith-based leaders, Tribal Nations leaders, representatives from Nassau and Suffolk County, and the Governor’s Office.
